We have been out with Capt. Bob twice in the past 2 years and both times we had an incredible experience. The first trip was with our 3 daughters and Capt. Bob took us to the BVI's with some snorkeling along the way in some of the most beautiful places we had ever seen. Capt. Bob shared some great stories as well as tips for snorkeling and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
The second time we chartered with Capt. Bob it was just me and my wife and Bob took us around the entire island of St. John. We snorkeled again, had lunch and enjoyed more stories. Having lived on St. John for 30 years, Bob knows a lot of the history of the area.
Our day spent with Capt. Bob was the highlight of both our Virgin Island vacations. We highly recommend chartering a day with Tropic powerboat.

Having already chartered a group boat on a previous trip to St John, we were looking for a better experience. Captain Bob provided exactly this experience. He was very courteous and took great attention to make our trip the best possible. He was very knowledgable about the BVI and provided us with great history of Jost Van Dyck. It was the best day we have ever experienced in the islands. Do not use anyone else !!! This man is the best at what he does.

Each time we visit St. John we go out with Captain Bob. He works hard to customize our trip to meet our needs. This year we wanted calm waters where we could snorkel and take photos. He NEVER disappoints. Not only is he a conscientious captain looking out for the safety of his guests, his knowledge of the island is unparalleled. When you get home you won't think about the money you spent; you'll just remember a perfect day at sea.

We have been visiting St, John for over 20 years, and our trip with Bob was just about as perfect a day as you can get! Bob is a great host and captain, demonstrating his knowledge of the sea and locale that we haven't had the pleasaure of experiencing before. We've taken the tourist route before, and been disappointed with a routine run across the sound that lacked any personalization, restricting the experience to a basic recital. Captain Bob took us to the less travelled spots and tempered our requests with consideration of rougher seas and inclement weather, without limiting our enjoyment in the least! We'll most definately be back to enjoy his company, wit, wisdom and seamanship when we return!

Very enjoyable day with Bob and The Tropic Powerboat tour. Our family of 6 adults had a great time circling the entire island on our full day tour. Four snorkel dives and a tour of the coves, harbors and hidden inslets of this incredibly beautiful island. Bob is very knowledgeable about a variety of subjects from history to marine biology to interesting anecdotes about the St. John's famous and infamous residents. We were educated, informed and entertained by his stories and experiences. High on safety, but also big on customer service, Bob made it a priority to meet our interests by customizing the tour. We would recommend Bob to anyone wanting to gain a greater appreciation of St. John and to enjoy a day exploring its many facets. A fun time was had by all.

Dear Captain Bob

Thanks for an unforgettable day on the ocean with you as our captain and guide. All our expectations were fully met and much more.

We had chosen a day trip around the St. John and would like to go snorkeling and to see some of the exotic beaches around the island.

Your knowledge of the island, and the story behind is impressive - everything from pirate depredations in the fairway to how life on the island in 2011, was incredibly exciting to hear about, also were you able to answer all the questions which we asked you on the way.

We can here only give you our best recommendations, and hope that many others may bring up an equally unforgettable day at sea in company with "Captain Bob"

During our stay on St. John we hired Capt. Bob to take us snorkeling and had a great day! Capt Bob has been on St. John for a long time and showed us a different view of the island along with some magnificant reefs. Lisa from VacationVistas.com has all the contact information on Capt. Bob...would highly recommend him for a new view of St. John.

I highly recommend hiring Capt. Bob (Tropic Powerboat Rentals) to explore St John by water. We snorkled beautiful spots we would never have been able to on our own, plus we had a private guide on all the island folklore. Bob has lived on St John for close to 35 years and is a wealth of information.

He has an encyclopedic knowledge of the ocean floor in the Virgin Islands, and has a wonderful, fast, smooth boat to take you to out-of-the-way snorkeling spots. Particularly impressive is the way he describes what will be found along the reefs and the best ways to navigate through them. In addition to his expertise, he is a genuinely nice person and is extremely safety conscious. The boat holds 6 people, bring your own food and drinks. In seven years of chartering boats for snorkeling, he is far and away the best."

We visited in April 2008;
We brought my parents and 2 teenage daughters, none of whom had ever been to the Caribbean before; so we decided to arrange a catamaran boat trip. Captain Bob..was wonderful, and if we do another boat trip, we would use him again for sure. He is very knowledgeable, not only about great places to snorkel that are "off the beaten path", but also in his history of the island. My husband and I had been to St. John two other times for CEO seminars at the Westin. We learned more about the island on the 7 hours we were on Captain Bob's boat than we had in our other 2 previous trips combined.
My mother does not swim at all. She was a little leery when we had to get in the dinghy to get to Capt. Bob's boat. But once we were in the Catamaran, she felt safe, comfortable and at ease. Capt Bob's life experiences provide him with a wealth of knowledge. He really is very good at what he does and we were thoroughly impressed.
